Valedictorian Speech

In my valedictorian speech I will summarize all the positive and negative points of what have we done in our class this year. I will say it by assuring them and by providing them examples of what we did was either right or wrong. I will say my speech loud and clear with pauses in between where necessary.I might say a bit about some students but not everyone. I won't make fun of graduation but might say something which will make others laugh but will also get my point through their minds. I would really appreciate the person who helped me all along in my career life this year and I will proudly say their names.

I would like to give them advice on how should they react towards their career and life? and how important it is for them to count on all these points? If I was not a valedictorian I would like to hear a serious, emotional, and helpful speech. A speech that is full of life and options which will help me in my future life.

Ecological Footprints

I need only one earth to support my lifestyle. My footprint is like this because we use less transportation and we siblings share rooms and takes up less space than other families. The worst thing we do in our environment is we drive up to 10 km per week and travel by air for about 25 or more hrs every year. We use electricity at home but sometimes we do misuse it. We can make it smaller by changing our lifestyle and habits towards using toxic material, burning fossil fuels and electricity. The three things we can do to make a difference with global warming are
1. Use Energy Saving Bulbs rather than usual bulbs.
2. Turn off heat/air conditioners while leaving home or when it’s not needed.
3. Recycle paper and pop cans.

Movie..

My favourite category or type of movie is drama, horror or comedy. It depends on my mood that which type of movie should be watched at certain time. My recent favourite movie is "Syriana" because of the facts shown in it. Syriana is drama based movie. It shows how political people are involved in oil industries and how they are effecting people involved directly and indirectly. It shows how on political level the innocents are being used and how people are trapped to take wrong steps for money. It also teaches a lesson that any normal people who doesn't have power of making decision can suffer and can be used by other people without knowing they are being used.

Current Events....

I found an article on Toronto Star Newspaper website about "Ontario to ban 'old' light bulbs. It was published on Wednesday April 18,2007 in Ontario. It talks about how Ontario government energy minister Dwight Duncan took a decision to band light bulbs and other ineffective lightning technologies by 2012 in an effort to reduce province electricity consumption. This decision is been taken to lower the greenhouse gases that can cause global warming. He said it can be done by changing the bulb, and disposing them the right way, without letting it release toxic waste in environment.

The article on Mrs.Book blog was published on Fort McMurray Today Newspaper on Tuesday April 17,2007. Its written by Larissa Liepins who stated the situation of fire in four storey apartment building in Downtown Fort McMurray. No one is sure about the cause of fire by now but the resident of this place are extremely hurt by watching their homes on fire. When alarm went off, resident didn't take it seriously as it happens at least once in month but later they realized that its a real fire when people were running, screaming and knocking on door and telling everyone to leave building.

Spring Break

The upcoming spring break I have planned to go to Edmonton with my family. I heard about West Edmonton Mall being biggest and greatest mall in Canada. Therefore, I wish to visit and shop there. I have family friends in Edmonton too so, I will be visiting them with my family. The fun part of my trip will be looking for furniture for our home here. We will be looking for things we can fill our home with. I love shopping especially the one done to decorate my home with. I am new here therefore its going to be fun in Edmonton as I will be exploring a new place and also I will be buying new stuff for my home.

I will be visiting my family friends whom I haven't seen for last 2 years. It will be fun with them to hang out, go on movies and to shop. We together are bunch of kids who no one can control. We go crazy when we all get together. One of my cousin will meet me there so I can picture us having fun, screaming, not sleeping, fighting with each other for small things. I will be staying there for 4 days so I am guessing this spring break will be one of my Best spring break ever.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is stealing or copying some one's ideas and thoughts. Rephrasing words or sentences doesn't means you are not plagiarising because you are still using someone else's ideas, thoughts and their work.
Plagiarism is not allowed in school because from copying and pasting you don't learn anything. You simply steal other people's idea and show it as your work. It's not your effort therefore, teachers can't give you marks for it. Teachers want students to learn and write by themselves with their own thoughts and ideas which means you can not copy other peoples work and show as your and get marks. Plagiarism puts you behind in work because you do not understand the concept on that certain topic.
My experience in plagiarism was when I wrote my English essay by the help of online study guides from Internet which was not a good decision. I lost marks because of copying and also I did not knew what am I writing about and what certain word means. When teacher came up to me and asked me what it means I was totally clueless. It didn't help me to learn it just shut my brains off towards it because I didn't pay much attention towards it.

Feelings about Essay!

The word essay makes me scared, because it points towards losing marks. It feels really bad when you are doing great in class and all the sudden your marks are pushed down because of essay writing. Essay's bring frustration and sadness for me. All it does is surprises me; whenever I think I did better than last time it still remains the same. I find it difficult, challenging and hard. It's the most common part where i can easily lose marks.
I can easily lose marks in essay because of my grammar, content and structure. I know what I am writing about but mostly after putting it all together it becomes a bit more complicated, which makes it hard for teachers to read and understand my point. As English is not my first language therefore, I have problems with writing and grammar.
Something that I really want to work on to improve my essay is my grammar and structure. I want my grammar to be better so I do not lose much marks and i want my structure to be better so teacher can understand my point and not cut my marks for content and structure. The best way I can do it is by doing brain storm before writing essay. It really helps and it's easier to put them together and in other which can help teacher to understand better that what has happened and what was my point which i wanted to make.

Kindness!!!

Thinking about old times, there have been many situations in which people have been kind to me and I have been kind to others. Just as an experience i would like like to share a time when i have been kind to an old man. I was in toronto, heading back from our school trip. We were in public transit and it was rushed because we were 2 classes. There was an old man who was carrying a big bag which he wasn't able to take down the bus steps. So, before he could ask anyone around I offered him if he wants me to take that bag off the bus for him. He got a big smile on his face and said "Thank you, daughter". His comment made me happy. I was kind so he showed his kindness and after getting off the bus he thanked me again and we both had a smile we passed to each other.
Then the same day when I went home from school, I told my father about what happened and he was really pleased on the action i took. He was really happy that he rewarded me. He appriciated what i did, and showed his kindness on me. I wasn't excepting any reward from him, because he wasn't talking to me for misbehaving with my sister but for doing this deed he forgave for misbehaving and bought me chocolates. That was it for one kindess I did and got all this in return. I do believe on what goes around comes around. We should always be helping others and taking care of them.

My Experiences As A New Student In Canada

I can some up my life in 3 words which are "Life Goes On", I read this quote in my first ESL class. There are always good and bad experiences in life and that is how you get learn. You have to make mistake in order to learn about it and I was one of them. I learned after making mistakes. I didn't knew english when I came to canada. Imagine you are in a country where first language is english but it's your third language, how would you react. It was pretty tough to actually go through that time because you don't know what people are saying to you and you are trying to guess from their gestures and behaviour. It was fun in e.s.l because I got to work with people who knew my language and they could interprate and explain me what was happening. They tought me different words. I learned by speaking more and more. Before I was not confident while speaking english I would just go quiet rather then speaking because I was scared that my classmates will make fun of me. Some of my classmates were really nice and they always helped me and asked me to speak up so I can improve my speaking skills. But I would just be quiet rather then speaking. Then I thought that I am wasting my time for being shy, I have to speak up in order to learn more. I made mistakes but I was worest then what I can say today. That's why I guess e.s.l made me tough and that was the best ecperience of learning new language with new people. It was fun being in e.s.l but now I think I have to move on without it's help so I can be more better then what I am.
